But how about music that somehow falls between two genres? Stuff like Psyclon 9? The Kovenant? Combichrist? Part metal, part electronica.. Call it Aggrotech, Cyber metal, EBMmetal..
Psyclon 9
The Kovenant
Combichrist
I like it.. but it's not for everyone.

Once upon a time, I was briefly music director for a school run radio station. It was a lot of fun, and I got a chance to meet and work with a ton of bands. Now, as an engineer at a different student run radio station, I get to basically do the same thing, but just do mixing and recording.
Because of that, I hate the endless names of music genres. I don't mean to hate, I actually don't really mind this music (I used to head a 3 hour metal show). Now there's a guy (who no one can stand for 5 seconds) that will rattle off about 50 different types of metal. Metal is metal. The whole, power metal, death metal, speed metal, black metal, grunge metal, super ultra mega metal and other dick waving names were invented by people who had to be set apart by a "sub-genre" because their music couldn't do it. Oh how it angers me. At least I just do the recording and don't have to care about that stuff anymore.
I think that while this music isn't bad, they could take a lesson (or several) from Nightwish. Too bad Tarja isn't still with them and that shit had to get personal.

I agree, but in this world we live in, I could NOT simply post this as Metal... I would get keelhauled. I could post it as electronica... and be keelhauled as well.. I love MUSIC.. I don't enjoy stuff like Miley, Rihanna and Beaver... but sure, they do some decent stuff as well.
And PLEASE.. do NOT get me started on Tarja.. :)
Note: I LOVE what people call aggrotech, I also love Terrorcore, but mostly I love Blues, Metal, Rock 'n Roll and Classical Music.

Oh Miley...I'll be honest, I think that Wrecking Ball had such potential...the way it started, I thought, maybe she matured and started doing really good music.....then came the chorus. and the rest of the song. ugh. The way that song opened, it should have been a ballad. Not an anxty teenage song. So close, and yet so far away.
What about the 80's? I'm a totally sucker for most of the stuff from the 80's, and have a massive collection of it. Too much for my own good. But the music is just so damn catchy, and that sound on the vinyl...I'll be back, time to go scratch some records again.

I grew up in the eighties.. I love a ton of stuff from the eighties. Duran Duran comes to mind :)
And as for Miley, she does have a voice that COULD be used for good... she does some catchy stuff... but it's just... yeah.. As for young musicians right now... I like The pretty reckless (OK. only taylor momsen is young in that band)
